June 14, 2018 Glen N.H. - Story Land is pleased to announce its first ever Sensory Sensitive Weekend, Saturday, June 23rd and Sunday, June 24th! This event is catered toward those with sensory issues, in an effort to make families of all kinds comfortable visiting Story Land. Cast Members will be ready to make everyone’s experience at Story Land an amazing one!
Sensory Sensitive Weekend will mark the Grand Opening of two new areas available to those that may be experiencing sensory overload in the park. The Quiet Dining Area is open to anyone who would like a more peaceful place to eat, and the Calming Room is a neutral space with bean bags and a soft rug to relax on and regroup. This weekend will also feature quieter music and announcements, certain geysers and water features that may seem unpredictable will be turned off, and the entire park will be a smoke free environment for all! Guests who wish to smoke during this weekend will be asked to exit the park to do so.
As usual, Story Land will offer a VIP Pass to those who have difficulty waiting in line, and this weekend two dining locations will each have a register available to VIP Passholders only. From 3:00 to 5:15 pm, a special exit located between Bamboo Chutes and Dr. Geyser’s will be open to allow guests an easier route back to their cars. Assistance Canine Training Services (assistancecanine.org) will be onsite both Saturday and Sunday, with graduate and comfort dogs in-training, ready to read with children of all ages at Mother Goose’s Manor. Other highlights include activities with The Laura Foundation (thelaurafoundation.org), The Crotched Mountain Foundation (crotchedmountain.org), Ability Plus (abilityplus.org) and Autism Speaks (autismspeaks.org). On Saturday, the popular Smoothie Bike from Memorial Hospital returns! Kids of all ages can enjoy creating their own smoothie in a blender powered by pedal bike. Advance purchase tickets are not required for this event, although Story Land encourages guests to purchase tickets online for the best deal! For more information, visit storylandnh.com.
