What is the admission price?
Our pay-one-price admission rate for 2008 is $24 per person, ages 3 and above; ages one and two enter for free. The pay-one-price admission includes unlimited rides, shows, and attractions.

What age groups enjoy Story Land the most?
Generally speaking, the park is geared to children between the ages of 2 and 12, and probably best suited for those towards the middle of that range. Check out the descriptions of the rides, shows, and other attractions in the "At the Park" section of this web site to help make plans for your family.

What is Story Land's street address for GPS/on-line directions?
Well, we're still rural enough up here in the North Country that we haven't quite been assigned an address that works on GPS -- really!
One Alternative: if you can use latitude and longitude you'll be able to pinpoint us at Latitude 44 degrees, 7.1 minutes north; and Longitude 71 degrees, 11.0 minutes west; or Lat 44.1175, Long -71.183.
Another Atlertnative: if your GPS unit lists attractions, try New Hampshire, Attractions, Story Land, Glen NH, zip code 03838. Or, Address/Hospitals - Memorial, 3073 White Mountain Highway, North Conway NH 03860 (Story Land is five miles north on Route 16). Fortunately, Glen is small enough that once you're in town, you can't help but find us. There are only two routes into and out of town, Routes 16 and 302, and we're right near the northern junction of the two. You can get directions from your starting address to Glen from randmcnally.com and, once you're in town, follow the signs or ask just about anyone where we are.

What are the best days to visit?
Any day Story Land is open is a great day to visit! Sundays and Fridays generally are the least busy days of each week, and Saturday is usually the busiest. June and July are less busy months than August. Any weekend from Labor Day to Columbus Day is also a great time to vist.

Rainy days are also wonderful days to visit Story Land. Most of our rides and attractions operate in the rain, and lines of any kind are practically non-existent. The day following a rainy day generally draws a large turnout.

How long does a visit take?
Most families plan on a minimum of six hours to enjoy Story Land, and many spend an entire day! Season passes are available for those who wish to visit frequently. Remember, come in after 3pm (or after 2pm when the park closes at 5pm), purchase full admission, and get a pass to return for one full day during the current season which, of course, could be the very next day if you so desire.

Can we leave the park and return on the same day?
Of course! Please stop at Guest Services located in the Entrance/Exit building and have your hand stamped on the way out. This handstamp is your "ticket" to leave and re-enter as often as you'd like on the day of your visit.

What if it rains?
Story Land is open rain or shine, so come out and play! Rainy days are a part of summer, and they can be a lot of fun!

Most of our rides and attractions continue to operate in the rain, though some may close temporarily during downpours or thunder and lightning. Many families enjoy visiting in the rain - lines of any kind are practically non-existent and, when the family is dressed for it, rain can be quite enjoyable! Rain gear is sold at all of our Gift Shops and at Guest Services.

If a driving rainstorm unexpectedly begins after guests have entered the park and continues nonstop for at least a half-hour with no sign of relief, as guests exit the park during the storm we will issue rainchecks to return in the current season; we do not refund admission dollars.

Does Story Land have strollers?
Yes, we do, and they are free to use on a first come, first serve basis. In July and August, strollers are generally gone by 10 or 11 in the morning, and returned starting around 2 or 3 in the afternoon.

Our strollers are all single seats, suited for children sitting in the upright position only. The strollers do not have storage bins or pockets; the park has coin-operated lockers for your convenience.

Does Story Land have pet kennels?
We sure do and, like our strollers, Story Land's kennels are free of charge and available on a first-come, first serve basis. They're located in the north end of our main parking lot, next to the train depot.

We have 26 kennels and each is four feet high, four feet wide, and four feet deep, with a cement floor, and a roof for protection from the elements. They're double-locked and attended by our Park Services personnel; if no one is present when you arrive, please press the pager button next to the kennel entrance and an attendant will appear shortly.

You're welcome to bring food, blankets, toys, etc. We supply water and treats at your direction, and we encourage you to visit your pet as often as you'd like during the day; simply get your hand stamped at Guest Services as you exit the park and you'll be able to come and go as you please. Veterinary paper work is NOT required, as your pet remains untouched in the locked kennel unless you are present. We do ask you to register your pet upon arrival; if there is a need to contact you during the day, we'll page you through our park public address system.

Where do we park?
We have plenty of FREE parking on the grounds of Story Land, and we can accommodate motor homes of all sizes on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Do I have to purchase admission if I'm not planning to ride the rides?
Well, yes, that is our policy. We've created a beautiful environment at Story Land and, although we do have 21 themed rides, we offer so much more than rides for the family to enjoy together. In fact, quite often our guests comment that it's worth the price of admission just to see the reaction of their children (or grandchildren) and the smiles on their faces as they romp through our fantasy world.

Are there coupons or other discounts available for Story Land?
Rather than creating confusing discount programs, we do our best to provide a good value to every guest every day, without the need to track down a coupon or carry a membership card: parking is free; the use of our pet kennels is free; the use of our strollers is free; picnic lunches are permitted in the park; our pay-one-price admission includes unlimited rides, shows, and attractions all day long; and grown-ups are admitted at the children's rate.

Guests who can visit early in the season can enjoy special admission rates during Guest Apreciation Days. See the Rates and Dates page for all the details.

For an even better value, any day from Father's Day to Labor Day come in after 3pm (we are open until 6pm), purchase full admission, and receive a pass to come back the next day, or any other full day in the current season. Please note: photo identification is required to redeem an after-three pass. (Before Father's Day and after Labor Day, when we're open only on weekends from 9am to 5pm, this value begins at 2pm.)

What forms of payment does Story Land accept?
For admission at our Entrance, we accept US currency, Canadian cash at current exchange rates, travelers checks, and MasterCard and VISA credit cards. Our Gift Shops accept US cash, travelers checks, and MasterCard and VISA credit cards. Story Land Food Areas accept US cash and travelers checks. We have two ATMs in the park: one ATM at Guest Services in the Entrance building; and one ATM at the Food Fair in the center of the park.

What is there to eat, and can we bring our own food?
At Story Land, our food offerings are much better than you might expect at a theme park. We strive to provide the highest quality and we keep it very reasonably priced. We serve fresh salads and vegetables, children's favorites like macaroni and cheese and PBJ, hamburgers made with 100% Certified Angus Beef, and a wide variety of other quality treats. Our Foods page in the At the Park section of this web site includes a detailed menu ingredient guide for those with special dietary needs.

If a picnic is your pleasure, you're certainly welcome to bring food into the park. We have ample picnic grounds inside and plenty of tables along the edge of our parking areas if you choose to "dine out" for lunch. We have actually had families bring a picnic lunch to the park and, after seeing our menus and prices, decide to save that lunch for dinner!

Can we bring wheelchairs, wagons, scooters, and Segways into the park?
We welcome guests of all ages and abilities at Story Land, including guests using wheelchairs or FDA-approved scooter-style medical devices, although it should be noted that not all rides or activities are wheelchair accessible. Guests must transfer from wheelchairs and medical scooters independently or with assistance from members of their party to participate where those devices can not be accommodated.

Guests who choose to pull a standard style children's wagon to carry their gear at the park are welcome to do so.

For the safety of all of our guests, skateboards and toy or recreational "scooters" of any sort are not allowed at Story Land. Segway Human Transporters also are not allowed inside the park.
